The world’s largest casino is using 3D facial recognition technology to authenticate 12,000 of its staff at the start of each shift. Thirteen of Bioscrypt’s VisionAccess 3D face readers have been installed at the staff entrance of The Venetian Macao in China, and are now used to process each worker through the turnstiles in less than a second.

 

Each employee is required to carry a smart card that instantly calls up a previously stored biometric template when presented at the turnstiles. The 3D readers then project a near-infrared “grid” onto the user’s face and a camera captures the anthropometric information created by each person’s facial features.  Access is then approved or denied by the information sent to the access control system.

Bioscrypt’s 3D face reader is a hands-free, non invasive biometric solution that authenticates users in under one second. The turnstiles ensure that only one employee enters at a time, eliminating tailgating.

The system denies illegal and unauthorized workers access by using the face readers. The two-way turnstiles allow both entry and exit to be used by the staff. Timekeeping information for the employee is instantly transmitted to a central office for payroll purposes. Everyone entering the “back of house” area, from employees to outside vendors, are required to use the face readers for access.

  

The readers, which have been integrated with turnstiles that prevent tailgating, feature software that can be used by both Chinese and English users.

The Venetian Macao is the largest building in Asia and the second largest in the world. It houses a 15,000 seat stadium, 350 shops and 3,000 rooms.
